Compensation of infinite-dimensional input dynamics

چکیده
A wealth of knowledge and research results exist for control of systems with state delays and input delays. Problems with long input delays, for unstable plants, represent a particular challenge. In fact, they were the first challenge to be dealt with, in Otto J. M. Smith’s article (Smith, 1959), where a compensator, now known as the Smith predictor, was introduced five decades ago. The Smith predictor’s value is in its ability to compensate for a long input or output delay in set point regulation or constant disturbance rejection problems. However, its major limitation is that, when the plant is unstable, it fails to recover the stabilizing property of a nominal controller for the plant without delay. A substantial modification to the Smith predictor, which removes its limitation to stable plants was developed three decades ago in the form of finite spectrum assignment (FSA) controllers (Artstein, 1982; Kwon & Pearson, 1980; Manitius & Olbrot, 1979). More recent treatment of this subject can be found in the books (Michiels & Niculescu, 2007; Zhong, 2006a). In the FSA approach, the system

Three-dimensional analytical models for time-dependent coefficients through uniform and varying plane input source in semi-infinite adsorbing porous media.
In the present study, analytical solutions are developed for three-dimensional advection-dispersion equation (ADE) in semi-infinite adsorbing saturated homogeneous porous medium with time dependent dispersion coefficient. It means porosity of the medium is filled with single fluid(water). Dispersion coefficient is considered proportional to seepage velocity while adsorption coefficient inversel...

متن کاملCompensating the distributed effect of a wave PDE in the actuation or sensing path of MIMO LTI systems
The problem of compensation of infinite-dimensional actuator or sensor dynamics of more complex type than pure delay was solved recently using the backstepping method for PDEs. In this paper we construct an explicit feedback law for a multi-input LTI system which compensates the wave PDE dynamics in its input and stabilizes the overall system. Our design is based on a novel infinite-dimensional...
متن کاملStudy of Solute Dispersion with Source/Sink Impact in Semi-Infinite Porous Medium
Mathematical models for pollutant transport in semi-infinite aquifers are based on the advection-dispersion equation (ADE) and its variants. This study employs the ADE incorporating time-dependent dispersion and velocity and space-time dependent source and sink, expressed by one function. The dispersion theory allows mechanical dispersion to be directly proportional to seepage velocity. Initial...

متن کاملUltra-Widband Distributed Amplifier Using Loss Compensation Technique on Both Input and Output Circuit
In this paper, we analyze a distributed amplifier based on input/output attenuation compensation. The analysis is carried out for a HEMT transistor; and a constant-k section filter is used to calculate the amplifier’s characteristics such as attenuation factor, phase constant and gain. The proposed design approach enables us to examine the tradeoff among the variables, which include the type an...
